How We Test & Review Software

Every guide on SaaSBuyerGuide.com follows the same research process before it gets published. Here’s exactly how we do it.

1. We start with the vendor’s own pricing page

Every price, plan name, and feature limit we cite is pulled directly from the software company’s current pricing page at the time of writing. When pricing changes, we update the guide and link straight to the source so you can verify it yourself.

2. We walk through the actual sign-up flow

For our setup guides specifically, we go through the real account creation and onboarding process step by step — not a marketing demo. That means noting where free trials require a credit card, where a plan silently upgrades you, and where a “free” tier has hidden limits.

3. We compare against direct competitors, not cherry-picked ones

When we write a head-to-head comparison (like HubSpot vs. Salesforce), we choose the tools people are actually deciding between — based on what buyers search for and ask about — rather than picking a weak competitor to make one product look better.

4. We disclose affiliate relationships clearly

Some tools we review are companies we have an affiliate relationship with, meaning we may earn a commission if you sign up through our link. This is disclosed on every relevant page, and it never determines which tool we recommend or how favorably we write about it. Full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.

5. We keep guides updated

SaaS pricing and features change often. When we’re notified of a change or catch one ourselves, we update the guide rather than leaving outdated information live.
